Matthew Patterson

Matthew Patterson joins our department on January 1, 2026 as Director of Techstaff. Matthew comes to us from the University of Chicago’s Center for Translational Data Science (CTDS), where he designs and manages containerized Linux clusters supporting large-scale genomics research as a Staff Linux System Engineer. With over a decade of experience in higher education IT, he has led enterprise infrastructure initiatives at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Northwestern University, specializing in automation, systems integration, and cloud technologies. Matthew holds a Master of Science in Management Information Systems from the University of Illinois at Springfield and multiple industry certifications, including AWS DevOps Administrator and Red Hat RHCSA.
